What are different DIA options of different refractive index lenses?

Publish Date:

All of clients knows that in different index lenses, even in different prescription, the lens diameters are different also.

By this chance, as a lens factory and developing in this industry for over 15 years, I would like to introduce you clearly.

Firstly, we’re all knowing that the 1.56 regular diameter is 70mm for – SPH prescription, and 65mm for + SPH prescription, but there’s few people knows why is it 70mm and 65mm.

I think there have 2 reasons:

  1. At the beginning when glass lenses are produced, the main size is 70/65mm already. After the rise of resin lens, lens manufacturer in Europe and China follow up this size as standard diameter, forming a global supply chain practice.
  2. Lens factories, lab, wholesalers, optical shops worldwide all stock 70/65mm at their company, this economies of scale in the supply chain reduce the production cost of 70/65mm lenses production costs.

Secondly, how many diameters that are available in the optical lens field? Below are some our available diameter details:

Thirdly, With different diameter, the defective rate will comes different, and price will be different also. Some area clients from Asia, middle east, Russia may ask the 70mm for + SPH lenses.

we will build up this diameter lenses in stock in the coming year of 2027, which means if you place order in 1000 or even 2000 pairs, we can ship it within several days.

Welcome to consult with any of our sales person.
